Extra help with Hands-on-Equations:
Due to CRCT testing, which begins on April 23, Mrs. Salter will not be able to begin the before-school tutoring session until Wednesday, April 30.
Hands-on-Equations is the algebra curriculum for gifted students that provides visual and concrete representations of abstract algebraic problem-solving. I encourage you to check out the iPad app for Hands on Equations, Level 1 ($3.99). There are video tutorials and 10 exercises per lesson, for Lessons 1-7. The use of virtual manipulatives is best thing about the app. In class we use pawns, number cubes, and an image of a scaled balance on a placemat to solve algebra problems. The iPad app replicates the Hands-on-Equations kit.
